Misa Visits Uncle Ryuuzaki's Home For Wayward Youth
L sits in his room, one hand holding open a copy of Mann's Zauberberg, the other clutching the plastic snack cup of strawberry pudding which he is lazily consuming between pages. His laptop idles in the background, playing Gould's early recording of The Goldberg Variations.
He is becoming amused with the parallels between his own situation and that of Hans, the protagonist of Mann's novel, who lives in a large Swiss sanatorium for a number of years. But at least the Mansion does not force all its guests to sit outside on balconies in the frigid Alpine air for hours at a time, and no one here is consumptive....
There is a soft, tentative knock at the door.

Who's there?
no subject
It...it's Misa...I can't reach the door handle...
no subject
*He cracks the door open, and looks down. There is, indeed, a small brown-haired girl in a pink dress staring up at him. He stares back at her, taking in her appearance, and realizes that the child does look precisely as Misa might have looked at the age of four or five.*
How did we get out of the room where you were a mermaid?
*he asks, gently; he wants to know that it's really her.*

no subject
Oh, Misa. How did it happen this time?
no subject
no subject
Well.
What are we going to do with you while you're in this state?
... Would you like some strawberry pudding? Or... a snack cup of oranges, perhaps?

I will bring this to you on the sofa, Misa; you should go and sit there now.
*He knows that he has ideas of what might be a proper way to treat her as a child, but is unsure of whether or not she will resent them.*

::she walks over to the couch and has to hop on by throwing half of her body vertically on the material, hoisting herself up with her arms and one leg. When she's on, she turns around and plops down, leaning against the back, sitting very still and proporly, hardly what one would expect from a five year old. Her feet just barely peek over the side of the couch. She watches him, her hands folded in her lap::

Goodness. You have excellent manners. You might have asked for help if you needed it....
*He peels the lid back from the snack cup, shakes out the napkin and hands it to her, waits for her to arrange it over her dress, then hands her the pudding and the spoon.*
Have you been wandering around like this for long?
no subject
Thank you. Both for the manners comment and for the pudding.
::she takes a small bite and smiles, her face lighting up:: Mmm, it's delicious!
::she shakes her head, making sure to swallow before she speaks:: No, not really. The room was upstairs, and I came right here to wait it out, since I couldn't really reach the door knobs on most of the doors. ::she smiles and laughs:: Though, Pink L and Lex were in the room. It was funny, because Lex was only a teenager, and his hair was a little shorter so I could see his eyes. It was funny, he looked really an-drog-in-us, even fem-in-nin. ::she pronounces each syllable so she doesn't flub the word with her newly found five year old tounge.::
((ooc: How is it that I can spell delicious correctly without much effort this time around, when just a few posts ago, I was so blank with it? XD Oh, the brain. :) ))

So there is no telling how long it might be... it might be best if you stay here and wait it out. I do not like the thought of you alone, in this condition... can you read? No, my book is in German, that won't help... I've got you your Alice 19th, like --
*He doesn't want to finish saying, "Like I told you the other day"; the other day was an intimate situation, and... he has a sudden impulse to drink something strong.*
no subject
::she smiles broadly at the mention of her manga:: I'd love to read it! ::she thinks a moment:: I...think I can still read... I still remember things...::she looks at him:: Have you read it before? We can read it together if you like. :)
::she looks over at him when he stops speaking abruptly, and tilts her head in confusion, but then makes the connection and starts laughing:: OoooOOOOOOOOooohhhhhhhh! Heeeheeheeheeeheeee! I think I'd feel a little strange too if you were this age and I thought about that. ^__^
::she finishes off her pudding:: Thank you, that was delicious. Where can I put these?
no subject
*He sighs.*
I did like Akazukin Chacha -- when I was twelve years old -- but I do not think Alice 19th is quite my sort of -- but if you cannot read it, yes, I will read it to you.
*He pushes his eyelids together.*
Misa, I do not think that's something you ought to be laughing about, at your age.
Here --
*After retriving the manga from near the computer, he hands it to her, then takes the pudding cup and spoon from her, to rinse them in the bathroom. When he finishes, he comes and sits next to her on the sofa.*
I do not know how to treat you,
*he admits.*
no subject
::when she's handed the book and smiles happily, in awe, running her hand over the cover, then holding it away from to stare at it:: Thaaaaaank youuuuuuu! ::she hugs it to herself, then looks over at him:: I think I still mostly have my mind, but...I'm kind of like a kid again... ::she looks down at the cover, her eyebrows knitted together as she concentrates on the words:: L...I don't think I can read all of this. ::she nearly pouts, looking up at him:: B-but that's ridiculous, I read lots of stuff. I just read this morning... ::she looks back at the book:: How is that even possible?
no subject
You can't read it?
All right. I will read it to you, then. I suppose you will have to come closer so you can see the pages, but... this is strange for me, Misa.
no subject
::she tenatively inches closer to him, then pressed up right next to him, burrowing her way under his arm, then looking up at him and smiling:: If this is uncomfortable for you, I can move.
no subject
*He opens the book, and begins to read to her.*
... And did you want to become a Lotis Master, Misa?
*he says, at the end of a chapter.*
no subject
no subject
Misa? Misa. Wake up. It is time to wake up, and have some tea.
no subject
I'm sorry I fell asleep, I tried not to, but I was so comfortable and so tired...
::she then stans up on the couch and hugs him around his sholders, pressing her cheek to his:: Thank you for reading it to me. ::she gives him a quick peck on the cheek. Suddenly, a big pink cloud poofs around Misa, and when it clears, she's standing on L's sofa, her normal self, though still with brown hair, and she's completely naked.::
Ah! ::she falls back down on the couch, covering herself with her arms, then looking up at L and laughing:: Dangit! Of COURSE they would do this.
no subject
I will -- get something for you from the closet --
*He disappears into the closet, emerging a few moments later with a set of his own clothing. While he's in the closet, his peal of stifled laughter can be heard in the room itself. He can't remember the last time he's laughed so hard.*
This will get you back to your own closet, I think. We will have to roll up the legs....

no subject
Are they clean? I thought I brought a clean set out -- it can be hard to tell, though, with them being all the same --
I will get you a clean set, but if you do not mind just wearing those for as long as it takes you to go back to your room and change...
*He shrugs.*
It's up to you.
*She still looks small and cute, in his clothes.*
Misa... you were a very charming little girl. But I prefer you as you are.
no subject
::she sheepishly smiles, blushing:: Heehee, thank you. ::she then moves forward and wraps her arms around him, gving him another quick kiss on the cheek::
no subject
All right. You can keep them for me in your room, if you want. Then, the next time this place decides to dress me like a plumber -- or a schoolboy -- yes.
*He returns her embrace and ducks his head to kiss her mouth, gently caressing her hair a few times.*
Would you like to get tea now -- a snack, too? We will stop in your room on the way so you can change... I could eat a big bowl of fruit. Or... crepes, perhaps?
